Late Victorian Sapphire & Old Cut Diamond Five Stone Ring, 18ct Gold, c.1890 Antique English Ring

A beautiful late Victorian sapphire and old-cut diamond five-stone ring, dating to around the turn of the 20th century, circa 1890–1905.

Crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold, the ring features three deep blue sapphires alternating with two wonderfully characterful old-cut diamonds in a classic five-stone arrangement.

The gently curved setting is framed with delicate millegrain-style detailing, while the shoulders are decorated with beautifully preserved foliate engraving — a particularly charming detail that gives the ring its unmistakable late Victorian character.

The two antique diamonds display the wonderfully individual, slightly irregular faceting associated with old-cut stones, producing a softer and more romantic sparkle than modern brilliant cuts. Their silvery-white appearance contrasts beautifully against the rich blue sapphires and warm yellow gold.

Viewed from the reverse, the stones sit within traditional open-backed settings, while the engraved shoulders and elegantly tapered shank complete the distinctly antique construction.
